If you've started to notice changes in your hearing, you're not alone. The most common next step is to search for a "hearing test in Brighton." But that search can be confusing.
You'll see offers for "free hearing tests" from high-street chains, alongside paid "audiological assessments" from independent clinics. What's the difference? And which one do you actually need?
At Hearco, we believe in clarity. That's why we've followed the advice of market experts and structured our services to compete directly with the high-street chains, offering you a clear choice to suit your needs.
We now offer both a free check and a full diagnostic assessment. Here’s how to know which one is right for you.
Option 1: The Free Hearing Check
This is our new, no-obligation first step. It’s designed for you if you're just starting to wonder about your hearing or want a quick, professional opinion without any commitment.
Who is it for? Anyone who is curious about their hearing, has never had a test, or just wants a quick screening for peace of mind.
What does it involve? A 15-20 minute appointment with our registered audiologist. We'll perform a basic hearing screening (called pure tone audiometry) to see what you can and can't hear, and have a chat about your hearing health.
What is the outcome? You will find out if you have any hearing loss. If you do, we can discuss your options. There is absolutely no obligation or "hard sell." This is our way of making professional advice accessible to everyone in Brighton.
Option 2: The Full Hearing Assessment
This is our comprehensive, diagnostic service. This is the "gold standard" test if you know you have a problem, have been referred, or want the most detailed picture of your ear health possible.
Who is it for? Those who are actively struggling with their hearing, have complex needs (like tinnitus or balance issues), or want a full diagnostic report for their GP, or another health professional.
What does it involve? This is a 60-90 minute deep dive into your hearing. It includes everything from the free check, plus:
Speech-in-Noise Testing: To see how well you understand conversation in background noise (a common complaint).
Tympanometry: To check the health of your middle ear and eardrum.
Full Diagnostic Report: A detailed breakdown of your results.
What is the outcome? A complete, medical-grade understanding of your hearing profile. The fee for this assessment is also deducted from the cost of any hearing aids, should you need them.
